Mountain View Mennonite is a warm and welcoming MCUSA congregation nestled in the breathtaking landscapes of NW Montana (near Glacier Park!), searching for a pastor to guide us on our faith journey. We seek someone with a deep commitment to the teachings of Jesus Christ, excellent communication skills, a desire to help foster healthy relationships, and a compassionate heart willing to join us in service to our community. Our congregation is vibrant, joyful, and actively engaged with each other and those around us. This is a 0.75 FTE position. A detailed job description is given below. LEAD PASTOR JOB DESCRIPTION Mountain View Mennonite Church, 0.75 FTE
The pastor is a servant leader, leading the congregation in its spiritual growth, fellowship, and missionary outreach. The pastor provides shepherding, facilitating and coordination for individuals and groups in the congregation in order that they might carry out the ministry of the church. The pastor and the congregation work in relationships and settings which are not fixed but continually changing. Thus, this job description is seen as a flexible guideline for their working together.
Worship
· Work with the Worship Committee to plan and provide meaningful times of worship on Sunday mornings. This will include preaching.
· Oversee general operations on Sunday mornings when in attendance.
Education
· Assist in faith formation for all ages through teaching.
· Assist in group Adult Study planning, may lead some sessions if needed.
Congregational Care
· Pray for individuals and the congregation as a whole. Devote time for personal prayer, meditation and Bible study.
· Respond to the pastoral care needs of the congregation. This might include hospital visits, phone calls, visits to elderly church members, pre-marital counseling, weddings, funerals, baby dedications to name some.
· Teach special classes as needed (membership and baptism)
· Maintain self-care and appropriate boundaries to ensure proper spiritual focus with nurture of self, family and congregation.
Administration and Leadership
· Communicate with the congregation weekly through email format
· Work with the Leadership Team for the vision and the larger mission of MVMC, reflecting the needs and desires of the congregation.
· Identify gifts within the congregation and help individuals connect their gifts in the congregation and community.
· Assist Leadership Chairperson with the Leadership Team agenda.
· Attend meetings for the various programs of the church.
· Manage the activities required for ongoing church operations, maintaining effective communication with the congregation and helping to ensure proper coverage of duties when Pastor is away.
Conference and Denomination
· Support and participate in PNMC Conference and Mennonite Church USA gatherings as possible; serve as delegate as appropriate. Encourage the congregation to participate, as well.
· Attend meetings and retreats for PNMC/Mennonite Church USA as appropriate.
· Serve on PNMC/Mennonite Church USA boards and committees as appropriate.
Broader Community
· Work to make MVMC be a presence in the community, and help the congregation to become involved in the community we live in.
· As possible, serve community members who have no church home, e.g., funerals.
